Worshipful Master
Harmony Lodge #9 F.& A.M.
2019 – 2020
Brothers, Family and Friends of Harmony,
So the time has come already and my days serving you as your Worshipful Master are coming to a close. I have spoken to many of our Past Master’s about this transition and they all had a similar response. “It’s bittersweet.” “You’ll finally get into the groove and then your time is up.” “You’re sad to let it go but you’re happy to be finished.” They were all right! I will miss having the opportunity & honor to serve you as Worshipful Master, but I will always be there to serve my Lodge, Harmony.
PLEASE NOTE: This year ALL ballots for elected Officers will be done via Mail—In Ballot. Ballots will be mailed to your home address, and need to be returned as soon as possible to the R:. W:. DDGM Eric Grist. His address is clearly marked on the Ballot.
I am very excited for Brother Senior Warden, “Wishful”, Dave Desplaines to ascend to the East. I have little doubt that he and his Officers will do a fine job as they take on their new roles in our Lodge. One thing that I have learned especially over the past year is that you can not do it alone. I’m not referring to the Master trying to run the Lodge, but rather the Officers can not do all the work themselves. I hope that after being cooped up for months, this may lead some of our members to get reinvested in their Lodge. I’d like to see our sidelines helping with running more of our events and being an intricate part of their success. I know I sure get excited when I see & spend time with my Brothers, even if it’s in a parking lot these days.
We have rescheduled our Master Mason Degree for Tuesday, November 10th at 6:00 PM. We are excited as we’ve been working hard to perfect our ritual. We’re even more excited for our candidates who have been working hard on their proficiencies and can not wait to become Master Masons! Brother Senior Steward, Bill LaLiberte has been working for months with our class with the aide of Brothers Wor. Steve Reali & Junior Deacon James LaFitte. Fine work gentlemen keeping them engaged during this pandemic as I know it wasn’t easy.
A big Thank You to all of the Officers I’ve had a pleasure to serve with. I am humbled and grateful for your efforts and support. There are many people, too many to name, that have helped me along my journey through the Officers line here at Harmony. Thank you all! It has been a fantastic ride and one I will cherish for years to come.
I leave you with parting words of wisdom from none other than George Washington that I thought was fitting with the current social/political climate of our country. May we Brothers & Harmony family be the example that our forefather speaks of.
“To enlarge the sphere of social happiness is worthy of the benevolent design of a Masonic institution; and it is most fervently to be wished, that the conduct of every member of the fraternity, discover the principles which actuate them, may tend to convince mankind that the grand object of Masonry is to promote the happiness of the human race.” — George Washington
It was an honor to have served you! Love and Respect,
Patrick M. Connor, Jr.
