Harmony Lodge #9 F.& A.M.

2010-2011

Brethren and Friends,

The Spring is almost upon us and as the warmer weather greets us, we have much to do this month.  Most pressing is our monthly meeting on March 1st, which will open early at 6:00 PM.  This will be followed by a dinner with our ladies and presentation by the District Deputy Grand Master of 50 Year medals to several Harmony brothers.  This is also RW Iacobucci’s official visitation to Harmony Lodge, and we can expect a good amount of visitors from within the district.  Dinner will cost $10 and reservations are a must, an exact count must be in no later than February 25th.  Unfortunately if you do not make a reservation, we will not be able to accommodate you.

The first weekend in March also brings our annual Game Dinner.  As those of you have attended in the past are aware, this is a three day event that requires a great amount of work to pull off, but is a weekend filled with fun and fellowship as well.  Please contact the Senior Warden if you are interested in volunteering.   The Grand Master will be making his official Visitation to the East Bay District via St. John’s Lodge #1 Newport on March 7th, and it is my hope that we can have a good showing of support from Harmony.  And finally we will be holding a Fellowcraft Degree on the 22nd, for our newest candidates.  All of this is in addition to our normal routine of Fellowcraft & Trestleboard clubs, Board meetings and the like.

This month our selected charity will be Habitat for Humanity of Westbay RI.  This organization assists families in need through donations of time, volunteer help, and tax-deductible donations of money and building materials to build and rehabilitate simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are recycled into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.  It is my hope that in the near future we may also be able to partner with this group for some hands-on volunteer work, and truly prove what we as Masons do for our community.

Fraternally,
