Dear Family, Friends and Brethren<\/p>\n

Why do some of our Brothers stop coming to our Lodge? \u00a0I say our Lodge because I know we are not unique in that situation, that other Lodges have the same problem, but I want to talk about just Harmony Lodge. One of the reasons that I have always heard is that we have boring meetings. We open and close, read the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports, take up charity collection, etc. I would like to point out that we have many activities outside of the meetings that are not boring. A great example of this is our Fellowcraft Club,which is open to all members.On the third Wednesday night of the month, we have our meetings, but for January’s meeting,we met at a pub inJohnston and just had a good time.<\/p>\n

Another good example will be shared by some members and friends at the end of January.I refer of course to Harmony’s Cape Cod Getaway weekend.<\/p>\n

As for the monthly meetings themselves, if there is something you would like to see your Lodge do during the meeting, such as have a guest speaker, then by all means, speak up. And please don’t just say ‘have guest speaker”…Have a specific direction in mind.Maybe you know someone who likes to do demonstrations or is a speaker who needs some practice. This is not a new subject for Harmony,or for the past masters of the Lodge. So if you have a suggestion, better yet if you are willing to do the leg work, please speak up.<\/p>\n
