As it is with all things worth doing and enjoying the time doing it, time has a funny way of creeping up on you. It issomewhat hard to believe, but this Master’s Message is being writtenfor the halfway point of our Masonic year. Harmony being such anactive Lodge it really doesn’t afford the Officers a real, meaningfulchance, to sit back and reflect. It is without equivocation that from thetime we are installed, it’s off to the races. I know it won’t be untilsometime in June, that we can take a breath and look back on our completed work. Until then however the tapers must be kept burning and the work of the Lodge continues. This past weekend I had to make a very difficult decision to postpone the Fellow Craft Degree until Saturday March 4th, you should have already received a special postcard notification of this date change. I made the decision because we were not ready to put our absolute best work on the floor and I as Master take total responsibility for that lapse in preparation. We will be sharp on May 4th and I encourage all who are able to come to lodge and support our new candidates and our officers in conferring this pivotal degree.

Immediately on the heels of that decision we hosted one of thelargest Children’s Easter parties in anyone’s recent memory with fiftyadults and thirty children. There was plenty of food and candy and cake, we had a very special visit from the Easter Bunny, a veryappreciative and personal thank you goes out to Mick Torgan’sdaughter Nicole for filling that role very well and helping make memories for the families there with her patience and caring way in greeting and sitting for photos with all the kids. It was another banner showing of strong Masonic work by Bro. Junior Steward Tom Drumm and his Lady Pat and Bro. Senior Steward Jose Gonzales and his Lady Dahamelis in handling all the reservations, candy and supply purchase, lodge set-up and decoration, center pieces, games and crafts

A big thank you also to Woodridge Assembly and Fidelity Chapter for their help, as well, as the Woodridge girls instructed the kids at the craft table decorating cookies and painting Easter masks while the boys of Fidelity helped set-up the Easter Egg hunt and eat the great food prepared by Lisa Dupre and her team. Harmony is in a unique position in that we have close relationships with both youth groups and it is very rare that when we ask for help at events, we are told no. If you see an event advertised for either Fidelity Chapter or Woodridge Assembly, please make an effort to attend and show your support.

As a reminder, our Ladies Luncheon is on Saturday, May 11th at Lancellotta’s. If you havenot already made your reservations, the final count needs to be in by May 6th. Please see the advertisement in this issue of the Trestleboard for Brother Tom Drumm’s contact information. We will also be doing our Sick and Infirmed visitations on Saturday May 18th beginning withbreakfast at Athena’s at 8am and then meet back at lodge for 930am to get assignments, please make every effort to attend.

The Officers and Brethren of Harmony Lodge are also looking forward to our ownWorshipful Ken Poynton’s arrival in the Grand East on Monday May 20th at 9am at the Grand Masonic Hall of Rhode Island in East Providence and celebrating later that evening at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet for the Annual Banquet. There may still be some room at Harmony reserved tables when you receive this message and if you are interested in attending please contact me personally at 401-378-4393.

For those Brothers applying for the Macintosh Scholarship, the deadline for submissions is May 15th. Additional information, including Scholarship Committee Chairman Bob Kempf’saddress, is in this issue.

May is a special meeting that I encourage all brethren to attend. We will be welcoming our DDGM Rick Baccus and his Master of Ceremonies Rick Lynch for their official district visit to Harmony Lodge. A significant portion of his duties that evening will be to award the 50 year medal to six brothers. Please make every effort to be there and support these well deserving men of distinction and our DDGM on his visit

50 Year Medal Recipients

Robert Arthur Blyth

Robert Leon Green

Ira Leonard Rice

Carl D.
